Afghan police kill 30 Taliban fighters

Afghan police backed by the U.S.-led forces have killed 30 suspected insurgents over the past three days in Uruzgan province south of Afghanistan, provincial police chief Juma Gul Humat said, reports Xinhua.
  
"Police launched operation with the support of Coalition forces against Taliban militants in Charchino district on Monday and so far 30 rebels have been killed," Humat told Xinhua.
  
During the operation, he added 2,300 kg of explosive material and huge quantity of narcotics including 75 kg heroin have been discovered from militants' hideout.
  
Taliban fighters have not made comment so far.
  
Two policemen have been killed and three others got wounded during the operation, Humat further said.
  
The operation would continue until the area is cleaned up from Taliban insurgents, the official stressed.
