Al-Qaida terrorist surrenders to Yemeni police: report

A Saudi terrorist affiliated to al- Qaida has handed himself over to Yemeni police, official Yemeni news agency Saba reported Thursday.
  
Naif Duhais al-Harbi, a Saudi national, surrendered himself to Yemeni police and investigation is underway, Saba cited a security source as saying, Xinhua reported.
  
The unnamed source added that information provided by the terrorist will assist in arresting other militant elements.
  
North Yemen has witnessed increasing confrontations between the pro-government tribesmen and rebels backed by al-Qaida.
  
Nine foreigners, including seven Germans, one Briton and one South Korean, were kidnapped on June 13 and three of them were found dead later on. 
  
Yemeni authorities have exerted great efforts in cracking down on rebels backed by al-Qaida.
  
Last week, the Yemeni police arrested the financier of al-Qaida in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, who was described as an extremely dangerous terrorist.
  
U.S. reports have said al-Qaida elements started moving towards the Horn of Africa, especially to Yemen and Somalia, an allegation rejected by Yemen which said that Yemen has not and will never be a destination for al-Qaida fighters.
