Afghan forces, in clash with Taliban fighters, eliminated nine militants in Farah province of western Afghanistan, Abdul Basir Ghori, the spokesman of Afghan National Army (ANA) in western region, said Tuesday.
"A group of Taliban rebels raided an ANA base in Balablok district on Monday and the troops encountered, nine militants and two soldiers were killed," Ghori told Xinhua.
He added that four more Taliban fighters and two Afghan soldiers got wounded in the firefight which lasted for a while.
Taliban militants who have vowed to intensify activities this year in Afghanistan have yet to make comment.
