7 militants killed in military operation in NW Pakistan

Seven militants have been killed and seven others were apprehended in the ongoing military operation in northwestern Pakistan in last 24 hours, the army said in a press release on Wednesday.
  
Six security men including two officers also lost their lives and three others were injured in clashes with militants in Swat and Dir districts of North West Frontier Province, according to a statement released by Inter Services Public Relations, Xinhua reported.
  
Security forces conducted clearance operation against a suspected compound at Sakhra in Swat and one militant was killed and three stolen vehicles were recovered along with arms and ammunition.
  
Security forces carried out search and sweep operation at Charbagh and Mangaltan areas in Swat. They exchanged fire with militants and six security men were killed and three others injured, said the statement.
  
Meanwhile, security forces conducted search operation at Kota in Dir district. "During exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists, six terrorists were killed, seven were apprehended along with a small machine gun," the statement said.
  
Earlier, a military spokesman announced that the operation in Swat had entered its final stage and around 1,600 militants had been killed.
  
Security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April after militants in early April entered the Buner district from the neighboring Swat district and refused to vacate the area despite their pledge to do so.
