Two freight ships collided in the Aegean Sea off Turkey's northwestern coast, causing no casualties, an official statement said on Sunday, Xinhua reported.

The statement by the Turkish Maritime Undersecretary said that the Malta-registered "Marti Princess" and the German-flagged " Renate Schulte" ships collided off Bozcaada island on Saturday night.

A total of 35 seamen on board the two vessels were in good condition, added the statement.

The Malta-registered ship was on its way from Turkey to France with some 8,000 tonnes of cement and the other was sailing from Morocco to a shipyard near the Turkish largest city of Istanbul, said the statement.
