Munich is sending a high-profile delegation to lobby for the city's 2018 Winter Olympics bid at the upcoming Vancouver Games, organizers said on Friday.

Munich mayor Christian Ude, Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer and bid committee managing director Willy Bogner will be part of a 12-strong Munich delegation in Canada, DPA reported.

Like the other 2018 bidders Annecy (France) and Pyeongchang (South Korea), the Munich representatives are at the February 12-28 Games in Vancouver as official observers by invitation of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC elects the 2018 host city on July 6, 2011.

"We are looking forward to it and expect a stimulus for the further bid process," said Bogner. "It is the first and last chance before the (IOC) decision to learn from Olympic and Paralympic Games and to make friends."
