A bomb explosion occurred in a central Athens district on Sunday evening, causing one death and one injury, police said, Xinhua reported.
Greek television channels interrupted their programs with breaking news about the blast which took place at around 11:15 p.m. local time. According to unconfirmed information, the dead person is a man. One young girl who was a passerby with her mother was injured and transferred to a hospital.
An anti-terrorism squad has already sealed off the area and investigated for clues. The explosion place is close to the offices of the Greek Society of Management. Speaking to Greek Press on the condition of anonymity, local experts suggest that the dead man could be the person who placed the bomb, which went off earlier than estimated.
