Mexico striker Javier Hernandez was named FIFA Man of the Match after his goal set-up a 2-0 victory over France in Group A, DPA reported.
The Chivas striker, who will move to Manchester United at the start of next season, scored the crucial first goal in the 64th minute running on to a pass from Rafael Marquez.
He inspired Javier Aguirre's side to a comfortable win which leaves them in pole position to progress to the next round at the expense of the runners-up from Germany 2006, France.
