At least 25 people lost their lives in Bolivia when the bus they were travelling in fell into a ravine on Sunday, reports said.
A further 44 passengers were injured when the vehicle left the road in the central region of Cochabamba and plunged 85 metres down a steep incline, national media reported.
The bus was carrying 21 more passengers than its legal maximum, police sources were quoted as saying. Initial assessments indicated that brake failure was to blame for the accident, DPA reported.
With many buses and roads in disrepair, Bolivian public transport is widely considered unsafe.
The accident comes less than a week after another bus accident in the same region left 12 dead and at least 30 injured on Thursday, police were quoted as saying.
