Uli Hoeness will not run for the office of president of the German Football League (DFL), it emerged Monday, DPA reported.

Former Bayern Munich business manager Hoeness had previously announced his intention to run against current incumbent Reinhard Rauball when the DFL votes in Berlin on August 18 but has now changed his mind.

"I would have too many conflicts of interest," Hoeness said in an interview to be published in Tuesday's Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.

Hoeness cited three reasons for his change of heart, saying his family had vetoed his candidacy, Bayern Munich fans had expressed their concern at his revealing his know-how from the club, and having too little time to engage in charity work.
