A German aid worker killed alongside a team of international medics in northern Afghanistan was from the East German region of Saxony, the German Foreign Office confirmed Sunday, dpa reported. The woman had been 35 years old, the foreign ministry said without giving any further information.
The woman's body was found alongside that of six US Americans, one Briton and two Afghans in the north-eastern province of Badakhshan, bordering Tajikistan on Friday.
