A helicopter crashed in the northeastern Chinese city of Harbin Saturday, but it was not immediately known if there were people killed or injured in the accident, Xinhua reported.

The helicopter crashed near a village in Pingfang Township on the outskirts of Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province, at about 11 a.m., a spokesman with the city's emergency affairs office said.

Also in Heilongjiang, a Brazilian-made ERJ-190 jet operated by Henan Airlines crashed upon landing at Lindu Airport in Yichun City on Aug. 24, killing 42 and injuring 54 people on board. The accident is the deadliest commercial plane crash in China since 2004.
