Taliban attack in efforts to disrupt Afghan voting process in northern Baghlan province on Saturday left six persons dead and six others injured, provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said.

"The Taliban rebels attacked a polling station in Dand-e- Shabudin area this morning as a result five Arbaki (auxiliary police) and one Afghan soldier were killed and six others sustained injuries," Rahimi told Xinhua.

Spokesman for provincial administration Mahmoud Haqmal in talks with Xinhua also confirmed the incident but declined to give further details.

Taliban militants who vowed to derail the parliamentary election have conducted series of rockets and bomb blasts in some provinces since early morning but failed to disrupt the balloting.
