UN emergency meeting planned over tensions in Korean peninsula
The United Nations Security Council is expected to convene on Saturday for an emergency meeting convened on short notice to discuss the tensions between South and North Korea.
The meeting was requested by Russia, a spokesman for the Russian UN mission told the German Press Agency dpa.
An exact meeting time had yet to be set by early afternoon.
Tensions have been mounting on the Korean Peninsula as the south prepares to carry out a live-fire drill near a disputed maritime border.
