One Afghan civilian was killed and five others including a policeman injured Monday by a bomb in the western province of Herat, officials said.

One Afghan civilian was killed and five others including a policeman injured Monday by a bomb in the western province of Herat, officials said, dpa reported.

   The attack took place in Darwaza-e-Kabul area in Herat, the Interior Ministry said.

   It also said 2,043 civilians were killed in 2010.

   Ministry spokesman Zemary Bashari said 1,292 policemen were killed during the year, down from from 1,400 in 2009.

   A total of 711 foreign troops were also killed in 2010, the highest in more than nine years of war, according to the independent website iCasualties.org, which tracks deaths of international forces in Iraq and Afghanistan
