The Times of India reported early Saturday that 60 people had died in a stampede apparently triggered by an accident during the Sabarimala pilgrimage, dpa reported.
Around 90 persons were injured, The Times reported.
The Times quoted a local official from Thiruvananthapuram in the state of Kerala as saying the stampede was triggered by a jeep that broke down on the way back from the temple.
