16 killed in Pakistan minibus blast
An explosion on a passenger minibus has claimed the lives of 16 people and injured 11 others in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region.
The accident took place near Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday.
The vehicle, which was carrying a number of passengers, was traveling from Hangu to Kohat when it collided with a pick-up, causing the gas cylinders on the minibus to explode, a Press TV correspondent reported.
District police chief Abdul Rasheed says many of the injured are said to be in critical condition and have been shifted to the local hospital.
Rescue teams are shifting the dead and injured to nearby hospitals. The blast completely destroyed the minibus.
Pakistani security forces have cordoned off the area.
