SCO Secretary-General condemns terrorist bombing in Belarus

Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Muratbek Sansyzbayevich Imanaliev on Tuesday released a statement on the terrorist bombing in the Belarussian capital Minsk, Xinhua reported.

In the statement, he expressed deep indignation over the bombing of Oktyabrskaya Station of the Minsk metro system on Monday.

"I resolutely condemn this terrorist act which does not have and cannot have any justification," he said, "my sincere condolences and sympathy go to the families of the dead and injured, as well as to the people and government of the Republic of Belarus."

Twelve people were killed and over a hundred others wounded in the blast that struck Oktyabrskaya Station, a key transit point in the capital's subway system, during the after-work rush hour, reports said.

The terrorists' motive for setting off the bomb remains unknown, but Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said he did not rule out the possibility of outside forces, the reports said.
