The US State Department Sunday warned US citizens travelling and living abroad of the increased potential for anti-American attacks after the killing of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, DPA reported.
The warning followed US President Barack Obama's announcement at 11:36 pm Sunday that US operatives had killed bin Laden in Abottabad, northern Pakistan, earlier Sunday.
It specifically mentioned "recent counter-terrorism activity in Pakistan" which appeared to refer to the attack on bin Laden, which was carried out with the help of Pakistani security forces.
