Apparently drunk, Winehouse stumbles, booed during Belgrade concert
British star Amy Winehouse, who has struggled with alcohol and drug abuse, kicked off her European tour in Belgrade on Saturday night with a poor performance and was booed off the stage, dpa reported.
During 70 minutes of her show, Winehouse appeared drunk and sang just a verse or two, most of it out of tune. The crowd of about 20,000 people jeered and booed throughout her performance.
"Scandal: Amy totters on stage, crowd booes her off," the daily Press said on its front page. Blic reported that Winehouse's "shameful" concert was "the worst ever in Belgrade."
Blic and other online newspapers linked YouTube clips of the concert to show the havoc on stage. "Not for the faint of heart," it said.
"It was horror, pure horror," one spectator, Vlada, 33, said. "It wasn't even funny."
Winehouse checked out of a rehab programme earlier in June. She has been dogged by problems stemming from her addictions and has often missed or interrupted concerts in the past.
