Former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani was killed Tuesday in an explosion in his house in Kabul, reported dpa.
Five others were also killed, the report said.
Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed there was an explosion inside Rabbani's house and that there were casualties, but couldn't provide any additional information.
Rabbani, the chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council, was meeting members of the Taliban at his home at the time of the blast, the BBC reported. The High Peace Council leads Afghan efforts to negotiate with the Taliban.
