An explosion rocked Kandahar, 450 km south of capital city Kabul Monday morning, leaving one person dead, wounding six others, police said.
"A suicide bomber riding a motor-bike blew himself up in the 3rd precinct of Kandahar city, the capital of Kandahar province this morning as a result one civilian was killed and six others sustained injuries," provincial police chief Abdul Raziq told Xinhua.
The attack took place while Minister for Tribal and Frontiers Affairs Assadullah Khalid was passing the area, the official said, adding the minister is safe and all the victims are civilians.
He also blamed the enemies of peace, a term used against Taliban by Afghan officials for organizing the attack, but the outfit fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops has yet to make comment.
