Human Rights Watch warns of unguarded weapons in Sirte

Human Rights Watch (HRW) warned Tuesday of the dangers posed by large quantities of unguarded weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, in the Libyan city of Sirte, DPA reported.

"The National Transitional Council (NTC), has promised for months that it would secure weapons facilities," the New York-based organization said in a statement.

"For months we have been warning the NTC and NATO about the dangers posed by these vast stockpiles of unguarded weapons, and the urgent need to secure them," HRW Emergencies Director Peter Bouckaert was quoted as saying.
