Afghanistan's drug production has grown by 60 percent from 2010 to 2011, Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said in Vienna at the World Drug Fighting Summit, ISNA reported.
Mohammad-Najjar noted that neighboring Iran is deeply concerned by such growth of drugs in Afghanistan.
Mohammad-Najjar also said that Iran itself suffers a huge deal because of the drug related problems, and urged the international community to strengthen fighting against drugs transportation through Afghanistan to neighboring countries.
"According to UN, 89 percent of opium and 32 percent of heroin drugs trafficking in the world are being monitored and dealt with by the Islamic Republic," Mohammad-Najjar underscored.
