Wednesday was a "tragic day for all of Belgium," Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo said following a bus accident in Switzerland that killed 22 children returning to the Belgian region of Flanders from a skiing holiday, DPA reported.
"The government is doing everything possible for the family members of the victims to be properly informed, in the greatest dignity," his administration said in a statement.
Two military planes would take relatives of the victims to Switzerland and provide psychological support, the Foreign Ministry said. The premier is also to travel there.
Foreign Minister Didier Reynders described the accident as "incomprehensible."
