Breivik "planned to decapitate" former Labour Party premier

Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Brevik on Thursday told a court in Oslo he had planned to capture and decapitate former Labour Party prime minister Gro Harlem Brundtland during his shooting spree last year on Utoya island, DPA reported.

"The plan was to decapitate Gro Harlem Brundtland while I read a text. This would be filmed," Breivik said.

"Then the plan was to kill (youth wing leader) Eskil Pedersen, he was target number two," he added.

Brundtland was one of the guest speakers on July 22, when Breivik carried out his twin attacks in Oslo and on Utoya.

Filming killings was "a strategy and tradition among militant Islamists," he said. "It is primarily a psychological weapon that is very effective."
