US President Barack Obama called the governors of four states Saturday to express support for dealing with the aftermath of severe storms that have left millions without power and offer condolences for those killed, DPA reported.

Ohio Governor John Kasich, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, and West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin gave Obama an update about recovery efforts in their states, the White House said.

US disaster officials would provide assistance, "especially considering the power outages and the high temperatures many of the impacted areas are currently experiencing," the White House said.
