Barak Obama orders flags at half mast for space hero Neil Armstrong

Official US flags are to be flown at half mast in honour of the death of astronaut Neil Armstrong, US President Barack Obama ordered Monday, DPA reported.

Armstrong, the pioneering space traveller who was the first human to set foot on the moon, died on Saturday at age 82. The reluctant American hero, who shied from publicity after his feat, is to be buried at a private ceremony on Friday, a newspaper in his home state of Ohio reported.

Obama ordered flags to be flown "at half-staff" on the day of Armstrong's burial "until sunset" on Friday at the White House, all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval vessels, embassies, consulates and US installations across the world.
