A hostage standoff in the US state of Colorado ended on Saturday with four people dead, including the gunman, local media report.
The man entered the home the town of Aurora in the early hours of the morning and took four people hostage, according to the television station KUSA.
One person was able to escape and called the police, dpa reported.
Officers entered the residence and killed the gunman after negotiations lasting several hours failed to free the captives. The perpetrator's motive is unknown.
Aurora, a suburban community outside of Denver, was where a gunman killed 12 people during a screening of the movie The Dark Knight Rises in July.
