US Secretary of State John Kerry is to travel to the Middle East and Africa starting Tuesday through May 27, dpa reported.
Kerry is to be in Muscat on Tuesday, followed by Jordan on Wednesday, where he will meet with "key international partners" to explore a negotiated political solution in Syria, the State Department said in a statement Friday.
The meeting comes ahead of a broader international meeting on Syria being planned by Moscow and Washington for June.
On Thursday and Friday, Kerry is to visit Jerusalem and Ramallah to follow up on discussions about getting the Israelis and Palestinians "back to the table" to discuss peace, the statement said.
Also on Friday, Kerry is to travel to Addis Ababa to take part in two days of the celebration of 50 years since the founding of the Organization of African Unity - now known as the African Union. Leaders from around Africa are to attend.
On May 26, Kerry plans to return to Amman to participate in the World Economic Forum.
