According to the local media, the protest was organized by Jeffry Smith, a Cincinnati accountant, who has organized similar demonstrations in Ohio. The crowd is watched by about ten police officers who do not interfere their walk.

The St. Louis area has recently witnessed a number of mass protests, after 18-year-old African-American male Michael Brown was shot dead by a white police officer Darren Wilson in the nearby city Ferguson on August 9 and another St. Louis African-American teenager, Vonderrit Myers was shot dead by an off-duty white police officer on October 8. Police said the 18-year-old Myers shot at the officer, whereas the parents of the killed say he was a victim of racial profiling.
