Yuschenko, Yanukovych Discuss Results Of Premier's Visit To Russia

(Ukranews) - President Viktor Yuschenko and Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych discussed the results of the Premier's visit to Russia.

Ukrainian News learned this from the presidential press service.

Among the main subjects of the talk were the issues of the gas deals between Ukraine and Russia for the period until the end of 2006 and the perspectives for 2007, reports Trend.

The prime minister confirmed that his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov attest to Russia's preparedness not to raise the natural gas price before the end of the year. In his turn, Yuschenko noted that at the current stage Yanukovych managed to seal the agreements reached by the two governments in January 2006.

The President also emphasized his position that the basic document for the activity of the new Cabinet of Ministers is the National Unity Universal, particularly, dealing with the fundamentals of home and foreign policy, Euroatlantic integration and language issue.

According to Yuschenko, starting his activity in the prime minister's post, Yanukovych confirmed that all provisions of the Universal agreement will be included in the government action program.

The meeting participants also discussed Ukraine's integration in NATO and the World Trade Organization, the government's personnel placement policy and the language issue.

The prime minister assured the president that these subjects are a priority in the government's work, and will be settled in keeping with the Universal.

The meeting took place in the President's Crimean residence.

As Ukrainian News reported, Yanukovych visited Sochi during the summit of the Eurasian Economic Community on August 15-16.
