(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko met Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko and the leadership of Naftogaz to discuss gas issues.

The President insisted that Ukraine and Russiasign a bilateral protocol on gas supplies and hold talks on transit prices. Mr. Yushchenko was interested to learn what role Russia's Gazprom would play and which gas Ukraine would receive in 2007.

The Head of State also said it was important to create a gas consortium but added that it should be established transparently and involve the European Union, Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

He demanded that an Energy Agreement be included in the list of agreements that have to be signed to found a Single Economic Zone.
