Ukraine's parliament ready to dismiss defense minister

(ForUm) - The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a draft resolution on dismissal of Defense Minister Anatoly Hrytsenko. The document has been prepared by deputies Oleh Kalashnikov (Party of Regions), Igor Alekseyev (CPU faction), Vasyl Volga (SPU faction).

The explanatory note says that as a result of Hrytsenko's activity, functions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on defense of the country, its sovereignty and territorial integrity have been considerably changed, what has lead to unpreparedness to armed defense in case of armed conflict.

Results of the inspections conducted on instructions of the President and the Cabinet witness about violation of financial and budget discipline in the amount of 6.6 milliard UAH and confirm low level of governance and control from Hrytsenko's side, the note states, reports Trend.

Authors of the draft resolution accuse Hrytsenko of sudden increase of cases of death among militaries in peacetime, general reduction of motivation level of service in the Armed Forces, what worsens the image of Ukraine in the world.
