Viktor Yushchenko demands PM to overcome corruption

( ForUm ) - President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko sent a letter to Prime Minister with demand to take urgent measures on fight against corruption, not orally but in practice to overcome corruption.

Yushchenko said Yanukovych's Cabinet had repeatedly declared its intention to fight corruption but did nothing or little for this.

President noted that systematic dedicated work on corruption overcoming is substituted by formal plan of anticorruption actions that are usually not fulfilled.

The President asked the PM to inform him about the Government's actions to resolve the problem at a session of the National Security and Defense Council on August 17.

Yushchenko stated that significant number of persons made answerable for corruption keep to be in office of state positions and to fulfill stat functions, despite laws demands.
