BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 13. Russia will pursue a policy of strengthening relations between the CIS member countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Council of Heads of State in Bishkek, Trend reports.

He emphasized that, considering that Russia will chair BRICS in 2024, within which principles and criteria for cooperation with state partners are currently being developed, Russia will pursue a policy of strengthening the CIS members with this alliance.

"Russia is committed to actively working on further enhancing the authority of the CIS as an integration entity and developing comprehensive cooperation within the Commonwealth based on the principles of mutual understanding, trust, equality, and good neighborliness. This primarily concerns addressing key tasks aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life for the citizens of our states," the head of state noted.

"We have prepared the concept of the chairmanship, as well as a detailed plan of events in the economic, law enforcement, cultural-humanitarian, and some other areas. We plan to pay particular attention to economic integration, including cooperation in the areas of digitalization, energy, industrial and agricultural cooperation, transport and communications, ecology, and innovation," he stated.

Today, the Kyrgyz capital hosted the meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of State in narrow and enlarged compositions.
