Turkey midfielder Hamit Altintop could miss Euro 2008 over an ankle injury, it emerged on Saturday.
Altintop underwent medical examinations at the doctor of his German club Bayern Munich - Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt - on Saturday after suffering the adductor injury during training on Friday evening at their western German camp in Marienfeld, the dpa reported.
Altintop appears to be doubtful for Turkey's first match against Portugal on the opening day, June 7, of the continental tournament in Austria and Switzerland. Its other opponents are Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
But, having also been forced to leave the pitch with muscular problems in a friendly Thursday with Finland, Turkey coach Fatih Terim also has the option to drop him from the Euro squad altogether as one squad members can be exchanged in the case of injury ahead of each team's first match.
Likely replacements for Altintop, who only recently ended a two- month break over a fractured foot, are his own brother Halil Altintop (Schalke 04) or Yildiray Basturk (VfB Stuttgart).
Turkey end their Marienfeld camp on Sunday and move straight on to their Euro 2008 base camp in Geneva.
