PKK fighters shoot dead five guards in south-east Turkey
Five armed guards were shot dead by members
of the banned Kurdish militant group Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in the southern
Turkish province Sirnak, reported dpa. According
clash took place in Bestler Dereler, a region bordering Iraq. The Turkish military has been attempting to prevented PKK fighters from crossing the
border into Turkey by launching airstrikes on PKK positions in northern Iraq.
The PKK is considered a terrorist group by both the United States and the European Union.
