"Turkey's economy has so far performed well in spite of the global financial turbulence," Rehn said according to the text of a speech made available on the Commission's website.
"The progress report to be published tomorrow (Wednesday) will state for the first time that Turkey is a functioning market economy," he added of the Commission's annual reports on the reform progress of European Union accession hopefuls, reported World Bulletin.
