We would have used our natural rights if we hadn't received guarantees regarding the candidate for the post of the NATO Secretary General, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that at a press-conference after the NATO summit in Strasbourg

Turkish President said important issues were discussed at the NATO summit adding that he is satisfied with Albania and Croatia's accession to the alliance and expressed a confidence that Macedonia will also become a NATO member.

"If Macedonia is not admitted to the NATO, the process of enlargement would not be complete," he said.

Saying that yesterday's discussions in Baden-Baden were tense and complicated. President said his country's arguments were appreciated by allies.

"Today meeting with US President Barack Obama and Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was useful. We openly discussed wishes and anxiety of Turkey and Rasmussen took consideration all what we said. Moreover, Rasmussen will have good relations with Islamic world. It will help NATO's progress. U.S. President has a big role in reaching an agreement on this issue. I express my gratitude to him for this," Turkish President added.

Talking about a role of Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi in this issue, Gul advised not to talk about problems and to look towards the future as concrete results have been reached.
