Canada hails normalization of Turkey-Armenia relations
Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon on Wednesday welcomed Turkey and Armenia's progress in normalizing their relationship, AFP reported.
"The normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations will not only benefit both nations and their citizens, but also enhance stability, security and development within their turbulent and vital neighborhood," said Cannon.
Canada's top diplomat also noted that he recently met with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Istanbul, "where he stressed the importance of dialogue between Turkey and Armenia."
Monday, Armenia and Turkey announced that they had agreed on a plan to establish diplomatic ties and re-open their joint border.
