Turkey is sure of its history and ready to investigate the 1915 events, Head of the Turkish Historical Organization's Armenian Department, Kamal Chicek said, the CNN Turk news agency reported.

"Turkey is sure of its history. The Armenians are not familiar with the materials placed in their and Turkish archives," Chicek added.

Every year on April 24 Armenians mark the anniversary of the so-called "genocide" to falsify historical facts, by making unfounded claims against Ankara. In 2006, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appealed to the President of Armenia with a proposal to establish a joint commission, but the Armenian side rejected this proposal, stating that it had no doubt in the interpretation of this event.

Turkish President, Abdullah Gul said at a news conference amid his Paris visit that not only Armenians, but also Turks suffered from the 1915 events.

According to Chicek, if the Ankara-Yerevan protocols are approved by the parliament, a joint commission to investigate the 1915 events will launch its work on this issue a month later.
