Turkey has started the project of the national production of training and combat aircrafts. The prototype aircrafts will appear at the end of two-year theoretical development, TRT Russian reported.
Thus, the country will move from assembly of F-16 fighters to the manufacture of its own combat aircrafts.
Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul addressed with a statement on this matter after the meeting of the Executive Committee on Defense Industry. "A decision has been taken to start talks with the Turkish aerospace company TUSAS for theoretical development of new combat and training aircrafts, in order to meet the demand of the Air Forces after 2020," he said.
In order to create a prototype aircraft within two years theoretical development will be carried out, which will take about $ 20 million. At the first stage of the production aircraft engines will be imported.
