The General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces, after an air bombing of the Kurdish separatist positions in northern Iraq on Wednesday night, made an official statement on the results of the operation, the Anadolu agency reported.
As a result of the successful operation, the Turkish Air Force attacked 124 objects of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the statement says. At the same time, it was noted that the only objects attacked were ones belonging to the PKK.
Turkish Air Force aircrafts conducted new air strikes to the positions of the PKK militants in northern Iraq, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported, referring to Turkish media outlets and the Firat news agency close to the separatists.
The raid involved more than 10 F-16 fighters.
No casualties were reported.
Air strikes were conducted after the militants' terror attack in southeastern Turkey on Wednesday evening, killing nine Turkish servicemen.
This is Turkey's first attack on northern Iraq in over a year.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years, claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by both the UN and the EU.
PKK militants previously threatened the Turkish authorities with intensified armed conflict if concrete steps are not taken to address the long-term Kurdish problem.
