Israel has offered humanitarian assistance to Turkey in the wake of the earthquake that shook the north-east of the country, DPA reported.
The Israeli embassy in Ankara has formally submitted the offer and Israel is waiting for a reply how it can help, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Israel's military chief of staff has ordered the army's search and rescue units to prepare in case they are needed.
The countries' diplomatic ties have been strained in recent months over Israel's refusal to apologize for the deaths of nine protesters on a Turkish ship that attempted to force its way through an Israeli blockade to get to the Gaza Strip in 2010.
