Turkey's EU minister meets French FM
Turkey's EU Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis met French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe in Istanbul on Friday, AA reported.
Following the meeting, Bagis told reporters that they discussed Turkey's EU membership process, Cyprus issue, fight against terrorism and visa problems of Turkish citizens during the meeting.
Juppe told reporters that some progress was recorded in Turkey's membership negotiations with the EU, adding that France was ready to open chapters like energy in Turkey's membership negotiations.
Juppe noted that they also discussed to strengthen political dialogue between Turkey and the EU.
Meanwhile, the scheduled meetings of Bagis with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, who are co-chairs of the Turkish-American Relations Independent Task Force of the U.S. Foreign Relations Council, were postponed.
