Istanbul and much of Turkey's Marmara region left without electricity as a result of the accidental power cut, Turkish NTV channel reported. Subway and tram stopped due to power outages in the largest Turkish city.

Disconnection occurred at 13:43 local time. Work continues on the restoration of electricity supply to the affected areas.

According to information from officials from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, a system failure at a power plant in Bursa caused power outages in Istanbul, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Tekirdag, Edirne, Kirklareli.

The statement of the municipality of Istanbul states that off did not cause problems with gas supply to the population and caused no disruptions in railway transport in the region.
