Nine militants of the terrorist group, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed during an operation with Turkish security forces in the province of Bingol, the Sabah newspaper said.
The clash with the PKK militants occurred in Chukurdzha. According to the authorities, four terrorists were killed. One soldier of the Turkish army was killed and six wounded in the shootout.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has been on-going for more than 25 years claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
