11 workers died in a fire in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Sunday night, according to a Turkish official, local media reported.
Necmi Kadioglu, mayor of Istanbul's Esenyurt district, said that 11 workers were killed when a fire engulfed a giant tent in which the workers were staying at the construction site of a shopping mall.
A local TV station said that the fire might have been sparked by a short circuit in the mall, which is about 35 km west of Istanbul city center.
The report said that firefighters had already put out the fire.
