Turkish cargo ship sank on Saturday morning in the Ionian Sea, four people went missing, representative of the Greek Coast Guard told RIA Novosti.
According to her, the vessel capsized and sank in the strait between the island of Zakynthos and the Peloponnese peninsula.
"The ship had a crew of 10 people, according to preliminary information, the citizens of Turkey. Four of them were missing, six were rescued and taken to hospital," the representative of the office said.
The Coast Guard ships, Greek Air Force aircraft, rescue helicopter and passing boats were participating in the rescue operation.
The Coast Guard suggests that the accident occurred due to the displacement of the load. Cargo ship was loaded with fuel from the seeds of olives.
